We
spent a productive two months
in Dallas in April and May, while
Matt
attended the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, taking two
linguistics classes
(Advanced Grammar and Advanced Phonology).
While we were in Dallas we were able to
reunite with old friends, make
some new friends, and renew relationships at our church in Arlington,
Texas.
Upon
leaving Dallas, we were on
the road for a month, traveling through the Midwest, stopping to visit
friends
and supporters in five different states.
It was a lot of time spent in the car,
but it was time well-spent as we
were able to reconnect with many who have prayed for us and supported
us during
our first four years in PNG.
We
arrived back in California at
the beginning of July, and have continued to take opportunities to
catch up
with friends, family and supporters.
Matt finished
his Greek 1 class,
and we were the featured missionaries
at
our home church’s annual Vacation Bible School program., We
were able to share
with over three hundred kids about overseas missions and Bible
translation!
While
in Dallas, we realized that
Matt is only ten units from completing his master’s degree in
linguistics. As a
part of that, this month he will begin
taking New Testament Greek 2 by correspondence.
Please pray for him as he continues the
studies that we pray will help
our Bible translation work be more effective.
We
return to Papua New Guinea on December 2nd. Thank you for your
continued prayers and
support!
